A debate on bio-architecture, the subject of Isabella Goldmann’s new book

Bio-architecture is the new frontier of interior design, and our home, if well organised and cared for, is the best medicine for our wellbeing: all we need to know is what little tricks to use and any house in the world can become the perfect lair for its inhabitants.

Isabella Goldmann has been practising this discipline for decades, and has picked up on some of these simple secrets, borrowed from the best practices of architecture in the past, that help convert any home into the best place to regenerate.

Isabella Goldmann

Born in the Netherlands to Italian parents, father a nuclear physicist and mother an art historian, she returned to her home country at a very early age, settling in Rome. Here she graduated in architecture at La Sapienza University. During her time at university, she carried out two parallel activities: in academia she was a volunteer assistant with Bruno Zevi (1981-1982), followed by restoration work with Paolo Marconi (1983-1984) and began working for RAI as an actress and presenter.

After qualifying as a professional architect, in 1986 she moved first to Harvard University in Cambridge and then to Bocconi University in Milan, where she obtained a master’s degree in business administration at the SDA (School of Business Administration) in 1987. Since 1995, as a freelancer, she has dedicated herself to the practice and communication of bioclimatic architecture, integrating disciplines such as architectural history, building restoration and communication into contemporary architecture.

She is an adjunct lecturer at Ca’ Foscari University in Venice and IULM University in Milan, and frequently delivers speeches and lectures at conferences and public occasions.

In 2011 she was awarded Real Estate Lady of the Year by Scenari Immobiliari – AREL. Since the following year she has been a member of the Lombardy Board of Directors of INARCH (National Institute of Architecture), founded by Bruno Zevi. In 2017 she was listed by the report Climate Change Evolution, by the Hossein Farmani Foundation, among the 80 global influencers on the topic.
